WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG??!!

Hi! Iam sure the title hints that this is going to start on a philosophical note or rather a spiritual one. Well i suggest read on only if your curious minds take you further. I earlier thought being right is always sticking to principles and ethics. But recently when I was having a discussion with a Swami, he changed or rather purified my theory of what is right and what is wrong. According to him right is something that is done for the benefit of others and then indirectly benefitting yourself, but at the same time the ultimate motive being the other person's wellbeing only. Well and wrong is something where only you benefit and nobody else does. Does it make sense?? Think about it. To make a long story short, being selfless is right and being selfish is ------. Well in that case we are all selfish. A selfless person gains happiness by being selfless. A person therefore cannot be selfless if he is not selfish. But again this kind of selfishness is tinged with unconditional love. When this kind of refining takes place in us, i think a person can guard himself from going Wrong!

My piece of mind on this... First of all, I dont like to judge as right and wrong, as being judgemental is maybe the easiest thing to do. I always remember Bhagawan baba's saying "Drushti lo lopam undi, srusthi lo kaadu". So even the very mind that confuses, is also a creation of the almighty, there is nothing at fualt with it. It is the fault with the onlooker, the vision you look at it. And the perspectives that restrict your vision. That is the reason we always judge a person as good or bad, or his actions as good and bad. But thankfully to god, I have always tried to be non judgemental. Because right, wrong in a way restrict your vision.
Think about this... Imagine you had a very good friend, whom you always trusted, believed, loved, adored etc. And oneday you heard something very dastardly done by him, or said etc. Or he admitted it himself. 90/100 times, we would judge him, judge his friendship, judge his felings.. and trust me thats the end of the beautiful relationship you once shared. Accept. Thats the answer. Accept reality and work for its betterment, dont judge.

And understanding this dharma that smaiji said, you can also be right, doing something for yourself, for the good of everyone around you. So that means spiritual wealth, material wealth etc is also right. because a man wo earns, always gives back. Maybe in the form of taxes, in the form of charity, in sharing knowledge, in being an inspiration. And since the whole world is a projection of yourself, doing good to yourself, is hell a lot of service to mankind in todays world. unfortunately, its difficult to understand this concept and implement it rightly.
